Happy Valentine's Day! On this joyous occasion, Old Man Doublefly has a special message he'd like to share with you... Valentine's Day is for suckers.
Don't get me wrong. I'm all for spending time with your sweetheart. But I am of the opinion that you should be loving and attentive to your partner 365 days a year. Valentine's Day is a crap holiday made to sell selected merchandise at up to 100% markup from the norm. Fortunately, you really only have to be taken in by this scam at the early stages of a relationship, to "prove" your amorous intentions. Once you are more settled, hopefully your girlfriend/spouse will be more practical than to expect you to buy flowers that cost 2x as much as on any other time of the year.
DISLAIMER: I take no responsibility for any break-ups because of this message.
Never mind me - I'm just bitter because I got booted off of 3 more tournaments yesterday with nothing to show for it. $773 just went bye-bye. In one tourney, I got booted off when my QQ lost to TT - four spots from being in-the-money. Oddly, I'm now strangely addicted to tournaments. I think this is related to how I play longer sessions when I'm losing than when I'm winning. Maybe a better analogy, considering it's Valentine's Day, is how men seem to be more attracted to women who reject them (so I hear).
Anyway, I think Mrs. Fly and I will have our "Valentine's Day" lunch on Tuesday, while the kids are in school. I usually don't get her anything for Valentine's Day - but I like surprising her year-round. But this year, since our neighbor opened that chocolate shop I bought "her" some white chocolate. I am embarrassed to get on the scale for my next weigh-in. But nothing like shame as a motivator.
WHAT'S FOR DINNER?
Mrs. Fly's interpretation of pulled pork enchiladas. She made some kick-ass pulled pork over the summer. We liked it so much that she made an herb version. This one was good, but not as good as the first, so she stuffed them into enchiladas. I'll start losing some weight March 1 - until then, it's all good eats!
